It’s important to us to stay connected with our customers, especially during power outages. Our Outage Alerts system enables us to send outgoing text and/or email messages directly to you when an outage is affecting your home or business. Outage Alerts are used in addition to our other forms of outage communications such as our website and telephone service to keep you informed.
By phone: Sign up for text message alerts by texting REG to 63797 (NFPWR). You will need your 10-digit Newfoundland Power account number (found on your electricity bill) and the last 4 digits of a phone number listed on your account.
Online: Log into your Newfoundland Power My Account to sign up for text and/or email Outage Alerts. You can add multiple mobile numbers and/or email addresses to any account.
Once you have successfully logged in, you will need to:
NOTE: If you do not have a My Account login, you can create one using your account number and meter number.
Messages will be sent to you when there is an outage affecting your home or business.
Planned outages are outages we schedule in advance to allow our crews to perform system upgrades and ensure the continued reliability of our system. For planned power interruptions, a message will be sent approximately 48 hours in advance of the outage detailing start and end times.
Unplanned power outages are unscheduled outages caused by high winds, snow and ice storms, lightning, and other severe weather conditions. They can also be caused by equipment problems, or third party contact with our electricity system such as vehicle accidents, fallen trees, and even animals.
To report or get information about outages, visit our outage page or call 1-800-474-5711.
